Ye Are Not Your Own

1 Corinthians 6:19: What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Romans 14:7: For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. 8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord*s.

I recently heard someone say who had been abusing their body It*s my body. But the reality is that all of us and all of our bodies are the property of the One who created them. We are doubly His because He has redeemed us. I need to be reminded often that I am not my own and I believe there are others out there who need that too.

Galatians 3:13: Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

1 Peter 1:18: Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

There is another glorious side to being owned by God. We own Him too. Doubting Thomas got it right in John 20:28 and I hope that you have too.

John 20:28: And Thomas answered and said unto him, MY Lord and MY God. (Capitals mine and I hope yours.)

There were some wise servants in Old Testament times who knew they were better off as the property of their masters. Their masters loved them and met their every need. They chose to remain the property of their masters.

Exodus 21:5: And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free: 6 Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.

God also loves us and meets our every need.

1 John 4:19: We love him, because he first loved us.

Philippians 4:19: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Our flesh will always want to own itself so we need to present our bodies to the Lord often.

Romans 12:1: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Who could take better care of us than Almighty God?
